"Small order fee"

Pics
I'm getting chicks next march. A lot are straight run, and I'm planning to learn to vent sex. Goal is to try and sex everyone on arrival (I was told I can do it as long as they're only 2or 3 days old) and if I can actually tell what I'm seeing, keep the sexes I want and sell the rest

Our local feed store will allow people to special order chicks to come in with their big orders. In that way I can get 3 chicks from Ideal instead of having to plan with someone else. I can also get one of anything they offer that way. Just a thought, you might want to call a couple feed stores and ask who they order from and if they can special order some for you.

I've always used Murry McMurry Hatcheries. They have a standard order of 25 chicks and now have no shipping fee with the 25-chick order. There is a shipping fee for smaller orders but I always find one or two chicken friends to split an order with me so we can all get the exact number of chicks we want. Plus, now that cold weather is here, shipping with 25 chicks is safer for adequate body heat.

They have a huge selection of chicken breeds and don't have a minimum number of any one breed. I love that I can order 25 different breeds if I want to experiment with something new.

You can look at what they have online or order a free catalog. They also have a large selection of chicken related supplies, equipment, information, etc.

Good luck and have fun!

So at Mt. Healthy Hatcheries, I was looking at the cost of chicks. I liked the prices until they told me about their "small" order fee. Does anybody know any good hatcheries that have fewer order fees? View attachment 2420301
Your profile says you come from Kirkland, WA. I live in the Seattle area too, so I did a HECK TON of research when we got out chicks. I've only found one place close to Kirkland that sells chicks soon, but even then it's end of January. However, if you can wait, they are much cheaper!
