Small Poultry Processing Plants and Services by States

many processors do not list because they are not inspected or licensed.

here in Michigan, USDA and MI licensed cannot process feathers and fur at the same plant.

And many times the ones listed have a min of 100.It's the small time guy that will work with you.The guy that may sell meatbirds and processes himself, looking to make some extra because he has the equipment. They are out there you just have to ask around.
We should make our own list of people in our areas that we have used in the past. Will

I am kind of new to the forum, but wow! What a great idea, but, only with the permission of the person being mentioned and if it wouldn't get anyone in trouble.

I need to share this with my GetRichQuick friend.

She got 2 laying hens from a local auction last year and one died so now she has just the one.

Her latest scheme is to get 50 Cornish Xs and then fill her freezer after 6wks.
I asked if she's investigated processing or intends to do it herself.
Of course, that part of The Plan has not been looked into yet

LaGrange is about 2h East of us - that's a pretty long ride for 50 chickens.....
Factor in gas + processing and probably cheaper at Aldi.

I don't live in NC, and I don't know what part you live in, but I read a report that lists two. The report is a bit dated, but the info may still be valid. I don't know if you are aware of them, so hope this helps.

Cool resource. The listing for Vermont is the only Mobile processing unit that is certified so that you can get the birds inspected for sale. There are others that are local people who will come out and help you but they only do it for private parties not for meat for public sale.
