Small premade coops

As seen on Ebay and at all the big box stores etc. The small premade ones with attached closed runs.

Are these actually humane for anything but quail? I am really toying with getting a tiny group of bantams (like 5) but want them separated from the rest of my birds.
Anyone use these for bantams? i have a pair of mixed breed now and they are TINY, like grapefruit sized. Lol. But i'm having a hard time picturing it

Most of them are junk, but some folks have used them successfully, usually with a lot of mods and for just a few birds.

I have nothing good to say about any of the prefab coops I've seen. Poorly designed, falsely advertised. The lack of appropriate sq. ft. in addition to the lack of appropriate cu. ft. (not enough vertical space) and lack of ventilation often result in huge flock safety and health issues. I would not even consider keeping bantams in such a coop.

I have a small one and a bigger one. Both are going on a year old. The bigger ones would be ok for 5 smaller bantams. It’s about 6ft long, 6ft high and 3.5ft wide. Something I would recommend before putting birds in it would be a solid wood base because it tends to pinch where the pieces attach in the middle and the door jams open. Also it wouldn’t hurt to paint the whole thing.

But truthfully for the price I paid for the big one you could build a nicer small coop with good ventilation.

Good point. I bought a "run expansion pen" on x3 clearance that was designed to be attached to one of these pens. It is a bit flimsy . I did have to slap a lot of paint on it but I have to admit, it's absolutely perfect for keeping my quail on the ground. I added a tiny shelter and lots of pine limbs for cover.

I was thinking about how well it worked for the quail when I got the idea for the bantams - my banty hen is literally the size of two quail. I wasn't thinking about the interior coop space or lack thereof.

the roosts could be higher in the coop. But mine only go in to lay eggs and then to sleep at night.
