ok, does anyone know of any small and quiet duck breeds i could hatch this summer? it would also help if you could tell me where i can get them (somewhere that they can be shipped to me). I was thinking mallards but i think they can be noisy. And i saw that people suggest teals, but do i need paperwork to own them? what about mandarins? i think you need paperwork for those too.
PLEASE ANSWER! I NEED LOTS OF CHOICES THANKS!!!!

Are you looking for wild ducks? You wouldn't need paperwork for domestic ducks.

Small doesn't necessarilty = quiet

Tiny call ducks are LOUD.

Muscovies are big, but quiet.

There are a few exotics species you may not need paperwork on depending on your state's laws. But it is VERY rare for exotic breeders to sell eggs. These are just too valuable to take chances on.

There is no quiet little hens in domestic ducks that I know of personally. Domestics are alot cheaper though and only the males are the pretty ones. Also like Kevin said. Not many sell wild or exotic eggs. You buy the wild adults in the fall. (GBWF website) one of best places to buy IMO .You only have to have the permits for North American migratory species. Even then if you keep these particular species the people will send you the permit for FREE along with the birds. Most all exotic and migratory waterfowl are very quiet.(boys and girls) Do your research on any birds you plan to buy(domestic or wild) and talk with the person you buy them from to learn what they require. I have mainly wild and exotics because there are so many beautiful colors and choices. You dont need paperwork for manderins and they are one of the easiest to keep and cheapest of the wild ducks to buy. Also welcome to BYC.
