My hen, almost a year and a half old, laid an abnormally small egg today which also has a weak shell. Further, she seems fatigued today. She's moving around still but something is definitely off. Advice? Something I should give her?

Is this the same hen you posted about here:

Are you still feeding an all flock feed with lower calcium? Could you give her a human calcium citrate with D3 tablet daily for the next week? Aim for 600 mg daily if she is a regular sized hen. Calcium carbonate is okay to use if you only have that.

She may be experiencing a reproductive disorder such as salpingitis or an infection. How are her poops? Is her crop emptying by early morning? Let us know how she gets along.

The same girl, yes. She's still on all Flock. I was afraid with one of my girls not laying at all, Layer food would be bad for her. I'm still a bit confused.

I've been giving her a women's multivitamin every other day that has 200 mg calcium plus 25 mcg of Vit D3. It improved her shells, although not too "normal."

Yesterday, I also gave her a Vitamin D3 125MCG, thinking I would see if it helped. Then she had today's weird egg.

Her crop has been good. I'm going to monitor her poo. If it's a possible infection or disorder, what can I do?
Thoughts?

Most of the people I know that help with laying disorders here usually give a human calcium citrate tablet with D3 for shell problems or something like this. I would try that for a week or so. And having just one hen not laying, I would probably not have a problem switching to layer. It is important if you don’t use layer to put crushed oyster shell out in a separate container, so the ones who need it take it. All flock has 1 % calcium while layer has 4%. Let us know how she gets along.
