I know many of you make some awesome chicken coops. I have several chicken coops and would like to know........ where do you get your windows? I want small windows like those on a kids play house. I want them to be able to open and close like house windows.

I put a 17 x 32 inch 'basement' style vinyle window in my coop...It slides open and shut. I paid 66 dollars brand new for it at home depot. Adds a lot of light, looks really nice and can but shut tight in the winter and kept open when it warms up. It will be inside the secure run so I dont think I need to secure it any further.

I considered slider windows, but someone else here who has them said that chicken dust, debris, etc. gets in the groove at the bottom of the window and makes it difficult to operate.

I got my windows at a mobile home parts store.

Yup or I find a window and screen the whole thing off from the inside.
Internet used sites are good too. I found two diamond leaded glass windows for $50 a pair. Going to put the screen on the inside of the building.

I just cut the size of the window I wanted, cut plexiglass to fit, then framed it out. Very Easy. Also added hardware cloth.

I get them off craigslist. There are always "demo" windows that window companies want to get some money for. I never pay more than 15 bucks for mine. If you're really sweet and influencial, you can go to a window company and ask if they have any old windows that were used for shows and exhibits. They usually have handles on them, but I just take them off and then use them on my gates, doors, etc.
