smaller eggs???

lately a few of my hens have been laying smaller eggs than normal???
and advice?
why???

They don't have a measuring tape up their vents.

Kidding! It just happens sometimes.

Some folks swear that if chickens are lacking in protein then the eggs get smaller, but if that were true my birds should be laying eggs the size of emu eggs. So, the "lacking protein" hypothesis doesn't really seem to hold water from my personal observations. If you are worried about it you could up their protein and see if it makes any difference to your flock.
