smelly eggs

One of our hens lays eggs that smell bad when we crack them open. The eggs are fresh, tested when still warm from laying and they look ok, but smell bad. We even tried to feed them to our dog but the dogs refused them also. We had never heard of this problem and our other friends with chickens had never heard of this either. The hen seems and looks healthy and all other aspects of the eggs look ok. Has anyone come across this problem and does anyone have advice. Bill

I have never heard of this, a fresh egg smelling bad. If the dog won't eat it that should tell you something. Have you eaten any of them? Do they taste
any different?

We have one hen that lays smelly and horrid tasting eggs as well.
All we can figure, is she eats poop off and on.

I've heard if they eat a lot of cabbage or onions that those things can cause eggs to smell or taste weird....is that a possibility?
