Smelly poop after going outside

Three days ago I put my 4 1/2 week old various chicks outside during the day into their grow pen in the front yard so I can watch them, then they come back inside to their brooder for the night. We just put fresh shavings in the brooder 2 days ago, but this morning noticed that their poo is much more odiferous than before they started eating grass, bugs, and worms. Has anyone else noticed this? I gave them chick grit todaysince they are eating more than chick feed and scrambled chopped eggs.

Thats normal for the poop to become more smellable with the different food sources , the eggs will be good for them and you'll get an even more smelly smell with the addition of it. sometimes I give mine corn meal , boiled eggs and a clump of grass with dirt attached and that combo will really raise a stink...

Definitely on the different poo smells. Their digestive systems have to get used to the new foods and develop new enzymes. Over time the poo will get back to normal.
