It is so annoying to try to read through a thread with those blinking, jumping, hopping, smilies! Some people just carry it too far, and have an excessive amount of them. Is there any way to limit them, or can I turn them off somehow?

You can disable smilies by going to "Profile" and changing the "Display" settings, but that turns off all the smilies. Sorry I can't help more.

I've wondered about that too. While we are complaining, how about a spell checker for posts?

dont forget there are many ways to spell ie:

which one is right?
grey or gray
colour or color

answer... both! one is a Canadian spelling and one is an American... and surely we dont want to offend anyone by saying either is wrong... right?... LOL

Use Firefox. Inbuilt spell checker for every site on the internet.

Yup, you can turn off smilies and signatures from your profile settings.

Yes, most browsers by default check spelling or have plugins that will create this functionality if you want it. Also, at the browser level you'll be able to customize your spell checking.
