We live in south central Montana...and have been inundated with smoke the last few weeks. I'm running a mister on the warm days like today which is supposed to be over 90, and they have their house and shade and such.

But I was wondering if smoke is an issue for chickens? I figure the mister will help since the wild birds love when I run the sprinkler on smoky days. But is there anything else I can do?

Smoke can cause respiratory distress in chickens. The mister will help remove particles for the air so that's good. I had to bring our chicks and there mama in to the garage because the smoke here was so bad, the smoke is higher in the sky and the sun is peeking thru so I let them out today. I read that feeding fresh raw garlic helps reduce respiratory problems.

I'll try the garlic. I'm having asthma which I usually don't...so poor hens. :(
