I am just finishing making a pot of black bean soup and was wondering if the chickens could have the smoked ham hocks I took out? I hate to have to throw them away.

They might be a bit heavy on sodium and fat. For 4 chickens I'd personally give one a day.

After the first one, they will be knocking on the back door, asking for more!!!!

Yeah, I'd give it to them in small amounts due to the fat and sodium, but otherwise it is just fine.

Thanks guys, I gave them some and they were yelling from the run for more!

Ah well, tomorrow is another day and they can have the rest.

Thanks for bringing up the sodium issue - I forgot about that.

Yes, you are right. There were only three small ham hocks, but I will devide it into three days rather.

Thanks!
