Hi!
I was wondering, what are some cheap, easy snacks to feed my chickens?
What is your favorite cheap, easy snack to feed your chickens?

My chickens love EVERYTHING! They will eat whatever I give them. Their favorite treats are mealworms and scratch! I have a mealworm farm so it is very cheap and they are not a lot of work. Scratch is pretty easy too. I buy a 50lbs bag of it and it lasts like 6 months!

Thats crazy how long the scratch lasts! I never thought that they had loved it so much, our chickens sorta just picked through it but i think they enjoyed it.

One of their special homemade treats I give them are peanut butter balls (lol, that is just what I call them.) I take oats, peanut butter, seeds, raisins, and whatever else you chickens like, and roll them into small 1 inch balls. They LOVE them!

Yeah, I don't give them too much so it last awhile and is pretty cheap if it lasts that long!

ALL of my chickens hate mealworms. Works for me; the price for a pound is crazy! Also not huge fans of iceberg lettuce.

They love sweet potatoes, scratch, cabbage, cherry tomatoes, parsley, basil, kale, corn, oats, flaxseed, hulled sunflower seeds. Their favorite treat is mashed hard boiled eggs

Is it just my chickens, or are all chickens not a fan of mint? I have tried to give them some because it is good for them, but after one peck, they leave it alone.

Hmm, I have never tried to give them mint. I should try that! This is a very helpful thread for me, I have been looking for new recipes for my girls and couldn't find much. I am hoping to find some more here! Thank you!
