We have to get crickets from the pet store to feed to my sons tarantulas is it o.k. to give a couple of leftovers to my one week old chicks?

I wouldn't give them to them if I were you. They need grit to be able to eat things that require chewing up.
edited to say: It sure would be fun watching them chase it though!

I'd wait another week, be givng them access to grit and then give them small crickets. We generally start giving them live snacks around 2 wks. It is funny as hell to watch them chasing the crickets around the brooder.

Snacks for babies? Gerber baby food, fruit wedges, cereal, bits of cheese, etc.

For chicks (which is the proper term for newly hatched chickens), dont waste your time. They don't need treats.
All they need is the proper ration, cleanly fed and clear, fresh water.

Stick to the KISS principle with chickens.
