Snake ate the wooden nest egg...

When I caught him, the "egg" was already about 1½-2' down in his body and he wouldn't regurgitate it. Will the fake egg kill him?

I took him about 2000' away into the woods, hoping he won't come back... what is a black snakes range?

I think he's been stealing eggs for a while. I just happened to look back there for eggs and noticed one nest egg was missing and there he was!

I'm pretty sure this will be the end of this snake.... I guess you will be rid of your snake problem. I don't think it will be able to eliminate this egg and will die of the blockage.


I guess that's one way to get rid of a snake!

I'm not against having black snakes around-- they are good mousers. Losing an egg here and there isn't a big deal, but he seemed to be a serial egg snatcher. I am mostly afraid of them eating chicks or sitting hens... Black snakes are supposed to keep other snakes away--not sure if that's true, but I haven't ever seen a copperhead here *knock on wood* Snakes are banned from the coop!!
