Snake found in barn

I live in Connecticut. And found this in my barn. Any idea what kind of snake this is? Will it attack my chickens?

Hard to really see the pattern or size from that picture but I'd gander it's a rat snake. Could also be an eastern milk snake. Both are non venomous but they can pose threats to smaller birds and eggs. I usually leave snakes alone unless they've found their way into my coop. They are beneficial to the ecosystem and will eat rodents that are living in your barn.
