Snake Repellant safe for Chicken Yards

I think someone once said you could use crab trap to trap them but, maybe it was a minnow trap instead. I have no idea what either trap looks like. I just use my "snake stick," a garden hoe. It's not sharp anymore but, it can put a few dents in the snake if you pursue it madly like I do.

SSSsssssssssssssssssssssss really make my blood boil- which cancels out fear(mostly) .

Last one I saw years ago, I made a deal with. I promised I wouldn't cut him into pieces if he was careful and didn't show himself to me(outdoors).

I've heard cayenne can help deter some pests. I've used it around the garden to keep bunnies from eating everything.
Not sure about snakes. May be worth looking up.
