    Dixiedoodle Chillin' With My Peeps

For about a week now, I have been getting only 4 eggs a day (out of 7 hens)! I was thinking ==heat..cause of the 95*-106* temps... Well, I went our today to check the nest box....four eggs--turned to go out and there lay a 5' long black snake w/ two egg shaped humps!! He won't be visiting again! EVEN thou, I am deathly afraid of snakes, I WAS gonna let him go but he wanted to fight -- coiled up and striking at me and refused to leave--after the third time... I killed him..

    [IMG] good for you Dixiedoodle!!

I'm sure alot of folks will fuss at you about killing a snake~~ignore them.

For years we lived in peace with black snakes....this year they decided to eat my baby Silkies [IMG]
Needless to say, I declared war on the black snakes...won't find a live one ANYWHERE near my yard

Did you find the snake IN the nesting box?!?! Did the hens not mind him being in there? I am so glad he decided to eat the eggs and not the hens!
