snake

Ummm ... yup.

The first one was when the ducks were still inside. They stampeded in their brooder and made a lot of noise, so I checked, and there was about a 6' long rat snake coming toward them. We captured that one and gave it to a snake lady.

That one got up on my pantry shelves and knocked some glass jars off and broke them, so it ruined the food and made a mess.

Last night my daughter went to feed her pets, and came to ask me if I had taken Frisky out of the cage. She couldn't find her anywhere. She was in a wire cage that has plastic tubes attached. I went and looked, and the snake was curled up on itself in the tube. Frisky was gone.

I want to know how they are getting in. Snakes outside and in the garage are bad enough (I have a cat in the garage that will kill snakes) but I'm not at all happy about them coming in the house and eating pets, no. This last one looks to be somewhere between 6-7 feet, maybe longer. We do have a couple more gerbils, and of course the chicks. They are all 4 weeks old. I'm sure the bantams could still be eaten by a snake that size.

Nope, not liking snakes at all right now. My daughter used to, but right now she's pretty upset about them too, poor kid.

I was going to say ... I DID enjoy the thread I read on here lately about people's chickens eating snakes.

These snakes are all too big to be eaten by chickens, but I did enjoy it. I hope my chickens will try to kill them at least. I need attack chickens!
