Snakes and scorpions??

Hi everyone.

I was just wondering how chickens fair against snakes and scorpions? I have Boschvelder Chickens and Silkies. Would they stand a chance against a Puff Adder? I've seen them killing and eating a few non venemous snakes here on the farm but a Puff Adder is something else.

Any venomous snake will be a threat to such a small animal.

I'd say slim to none on the Puff Adder, scorpions would depend on whether or not the stinger penetrated soft tissues.

Odds are the chickens will learn, possibly by losing a friend, that Puff Adders should be left alone. Mine to not mess with Copperheads unless the snake is very small and caught when cold in the morning. Scorpions are something the chickens can learn how to catch and kill if prey is cold when encountered the first time.
