Snakes *disturbing photos*

Pythons have migrated as far North as South Carolina... Although I believe last winter was cold enough to kill them off. Imagine if some were tough enough to survive last winters deeper than normal freeze. Their populations might explode and spread.

Have you got an article or reference for this info? Not disagreeing or doubting it, but just curious since I live in SC and don't recall seeing anything about it.

Invasive large pythons released in Florida are definitely spreading. Ball pythons are much less frequently released, though, as they don't get as large. The ones in Florida are giant ones released after outgrowing their tanks, whereas you can keep a bally (very unhappily) in a small tank its entire life.

When we first moved in, i announced to mother nature that if they respect our space then nothing will happen. An oppossum, coyote, and three snakes apparently missed orientation and paid the price. If they begin eating eggs or chicks they will come back and in some cases the mammals will teach their offspring. If they are outside the fenced area of the yard, good to go. In yard causing problems? Then bolo. But we will move a snake along to its area if it is in the fence. I like snakes especialky king and rat snakes. They eat rats mice and even the venomous snakes. You want them out there patrolling the perimeter.

Upon looking up what I found 5 years ago I am finding articles from 6 years ago about Burmese Pythons in South Carolina in a controlled environment (where they can not get out) to study if they can survive winters there. That is probably want I remembered and incorrectly so. Here is one of the Articles. http://www.foxnews.com/story/2009/0...ons-released-in-south-carolina-snake-pit.html but as far as I can find none migrated there and survived winter.
