Has anyone else had way more snakes than usual this year?
My dogs have killed 8 very large snakes the last 2 months and I have 2 distance neighbors that have killed 3 Coral snakes and my daughter spotted a Coral snake out buy one of the ponds. I have not seen a coral snake around here in 40 years.

I don't kill snakes, I believe they have their place, however my dogs have other ideas. Just wondering if anyone else has seen an influx of snakes also.

Sorry I tried to upload all the photos at once but it keeps freezing up on me

Yes!!! Not only that but the dog killed a coral snake, which I have NEVER seen before. It's made me nice and jumpy.
I know what ya mean, I like snakes but I have stopped doing any kind of work in the woods till it gets cooler again, I just never ever seen so many snakes in one year, heck have seen more snakes this year , that the entire time I have lived here and that is close to 30 years now.

I have a pet snake. A little sand boa. I can appreciate some snakes. I don't like VENEMOUS snakes. I have a 3 year old. One bite could kill my child. If its got venom and its on my property, its going to be one dead snake.

Ya'll got rattler snakes over there also don't ya bugglesmommy?
We have copper heads, moccasins and coral snakes around here , like I said the coral snakes haven't been seen in these parts in years and certainly not like we are seeing them now,
no more flip flops this year, I am going to have a tan line 4 inches above my ankles now

Ya know what also, we been getting gators in our ponds . I think hurricane Ike may have pushed them inland and they got into the Sabine river authorities reservoir that runs the front of my property, perhaps that is why so many snakes it has just taken them a while to establish new territory.
Weren"t you affected by Ike's flood waters?

Yes, it seems like a bumper crop of snakes this year. I'm in Bastrop County in central Texas and I am averaging seeing 1 snake *a day* on my ranch. And that's not counting the snakeskins that I find here and there. Fortunately all nonvenomous and mostly rat snakes, but have also seen hognose snakes, coachwhips, and garter snakes as well this year. Only a matter of time till I run across a rattler - I wear my chippewa snake boots religiously when I walk in the pastures. Maybe the drought has made them more active? In the terrible summer of 2011, I had 10 snakes *in my house*! Hope never to relive THAT experience again - walking in your living room in the middle of the night only to be greeted by a 4-foot rat snake is, um, exciting! (It was so frequent that I became quite adept at shooing them out with a broom, or picking them up with kitchen tongs and putting them outside.) Good news is I figured out how they were getting in and that is now fixed...
