my chickens were not laying at all, concerning because they are 11 months old. One day, i saw a big black snake leaving the coop. i also saw him swallow an egg. have not seen him since then but still only getting one-two eggs from four chickens 1 aseel and 3 rhode island reds. how do i stop the snake?

First make sure you don't have mice or rats around, sometimes they draw the snakes and a lot of other predators to the coop. Some ceramic eggs might work, wash them very well and handle with gloves to avoid human scent.

Have you find a solution? I recently start losing eggs, with shells left in the coop. I suspect I got either either rat or snake problem. My 4 hens are refusing to lay in the coop any more, they search surrounding areas (I free range during day time) looking for nest places, appearing very stressed. Let me know how did you deal w the issue. Thanks.
