I have 2 hens on eggs that are due to hatch tomorrow (at least one has hatched today or last night). I have 13 chicks (1-2 days old) that I would love to stick with one of those hens. What are my chances one of them (or both) will accept them? Any suggestions? One is a mix of something and something and something so much that I doubt I'll ever know what she is and the other is a game hen. Would one be more likely to take them than the other?

If the hens are friendly pick them up and put those chicks under neath them and they will think their eggs hatched. But if they are in a coop with other chickens be careful because the others will try to hurt and YES possibly KILL the chicks

I thought about splitting them between the hens since there are 13 and if any of the hen's eggs hatch under her, it might be too many for one. I guess I'll just have to see how they do.....

One hen is in a cage by herself (I've had issues with her before.....1/2 developed chicks in eggs I cracked for brownies

). The other is up away from other chickens and dh's uncle always puts them in a pen by themselves when they hatch their chicks. His hen is friendly to him but probably won't be to me.

Thanks

Well, my little white hen hatched out 3 chicks and then abandoned the nest with 6 other eggs. I'm sure she knew best, but I couldn't just leave them out there so I brought 5 of them in to put in the bator. One was leaking and when I tapped it with a rock, it exploded. Yep, it was bad. One of the others had been pipped since at least 3 pm and when there was no change at 1 am, I helped it out. I couldn't help it. Should have left it alone, I know. I put the other 4 eggs in the bator. Just checked.....I have another baby! It's a wonder, those eggs were cold when I got them inside. Hopefully the other 2 will hatch. I'm a little timid about putting the babies with her now since she left that one egg that was pipped out to freeze.....
