My newest members are now 4 months old..and it seems I have two escape artist. So I have checked I don't know how many times to see if there is a spot under the fence they could slide under, and didn't see anything big enough for a chicken. I must say I am really tired of having to go out every night to toss chickens back in the coop. It was only one, but now she has taught another to do the same..
I finally caught them today. Seems the little pullets have been using the stumps in the run to "jump" over the fence. It is and 8 foot fence! So today I went out and did the fishing line trick..there is a nice grid across the whole run (we recently redid the run and expanded it from 12x12 to 12x36) I had this done on the old run, read about it somewhere...so we will see tomorrow if I have any escape chickens.
I don't know if they are smart or really stupid. They are having a ball until I go out to feed, and then they are slamming the fence to get back in..dummies. Needless to say, I don't put them in. Let them watch as the other eat. Of course that tactic doesn't work either..lol
