Ok. So I have this rodent running around my chicken pen and underneath my dishwasher and cabinets in the house. I am not sure what it is but the butt end of it was about 1 1/2" wide!!! It's brown so I am not sure if it's a rat or a vole. Any suggestions on how to get rid of this annoying thing? I do have a have a heart trap set...but it's too smart for that. 
. I wouldn't have too much of a issue with killing it if I were you. Get a couple of snap traps an put under your dishwasher. The best bait I've used is these cheap peanut butter flavored taffy candies. We melt them in the microwave and then press them onto the trigger. That way they really have to pull on it.
