Hi everyone
big_smile.png
I'm happy to have found this site! I'm looking forward to our little ones growing up and providing us with yummy, healthy eggs.

Our chicks are 5 days old today. I have noticed 2 of them sneezing- occasionally a tiny droplet of chicken snot/water? is coming out. Any thoughts? They are very active and responsive, eating an drinking well, running after each other, etc. There brooder box is being kept between 90 and 95 degrees. We do have the top covered since it is in our garage and has been a bit chilly the last couple of days. I would think they get fresh air as often as we check on them and take them out to love on them and bring them into the house for a cuddle.

Some of mine did that as well. usually it was because they werent drinking their water properly

you might want to isolate those two just to be sure or they might just be getting over something they got at the chickie hatchery. Are you giving them the antibiotics/electrolytes? i miss mine being babies! oh also it might be their litter.. chicken dust makes me sneeze so its no surprise that they might sneeze too!

They are getting antibiotics in their starter feed. I have not given them electrolytes though. I'll try that.

They all seem to be doing fine otherwise-they had a great playdate in the garden today since it was so warm-85degrees!! They loved it:) They are learning to scratch-incredibly cute!!

I wouldn't think they would be getting antibiotics in their starter feed. Chick starter is medicated, but not with antibiotics. It is amprol which is a coccidistat (sp?) for coccidia. I would watch them and give vitamins, but think too that it may be they are sticking their beaks too far into the waterer. Watch when it is that they sneeze.

I remember reading on here that someone was giving their chicks infant Polyvisol (no iron)drops in their water. Would that be appropriate to use? Thanks for the clarification on what is in their starter feed:)
