Hey guys,

Sick of me yet?

Ok, so I got home from work today. Nobody was dead or dying thankfully, but I just want to check on a couple things.

Picked up my RIR and she sneezed on my hand/arm. Liquid came out. Not like it's super viscous snot or anything, clear like water and basically the same viscosity. Seemed a bit shiny/moist around her nostrils. Not running or anything, but I feel like beaks are normally totally dry. I just want to make sure this isn't some respiratory infection that's going to get away from me if I don't do something. Haven't seen a poop of hers yet today. I'm hoping it's back to normal again. She's been on dry food all day (though I did just break down and make them some wet mash because I did my daily crop/butt check and I don't feel like the tiny babies have eaten enough today). I should note that she is still acting totally normal, and I feel like she's still making visible gains in terms of body size. I swear her legs/feet have grown since yesterday, so I don't think she's languishing by any means. Just want to make sure she's ok.

Not sure if it's helpful to mention, but one of my cochin bantams was making sneezing-like head movements yesterday, but no "snot" or anything came of it. Not sure if it was just dust or something. I haven't noticed anybody else sneeze, and I don't see them sneeze when they're in the brooder -- just when I take them out to handle them. I don't want to give the impression that there is a catastrophic sneezing epidemic going on. But I didn't want to leave it out either in case it's important.

Also, my hamburg pooped this poop. Mostly normal, but the freshest portion of it had this light brown bubbly foam on it. Is that bad?

Thanks so much for the input/advice. I appreciate it more than you know.

Hi, you aren't a pain at all, the only people I get sick of are the ones who refuse to take good advice, you aren't one of them :) that poop looks like a cecal poop, completely normal once in a while. As for the sneezing i would think that she was just drinking water and had some on her face and it came off when she sneezed. If it persists let us know.

Oh good. So glad the poop is fine.

I'm just not sure on the water because they don't have a dish that they dunk their beaks into to drink. They have nipple waterers. The vertical kind for now until they're strong enough to depress the horizontal kind. Do you still think it's probably not a big deal?

And I'm just going to ask now in case it's late at night and nobody is on later and this somehow does turn out to be the issue, if this was a respiratory disease, what would I do in that case? What medicine and would I probably dose all of them?

Ok. Another one of them sneezed. My paranoia is acting up.
Is the sneezing happening multiple times in a row or just once? The only thing i can think of other than just normal sneezing( once or twice) is have you had any new air freshener or scented wood chips? if not i am thinking everything is AOK

With all of them but the Cochin it has been just once. The Cochin does multiple sneezes in a row. No liquid comes out on it though.

I don’t use any air freshener in my entire house. Those chemicals are cancer :P and I think I might be a weirdo, because I’m actually loving the chick smell. Their poop doesn’t stink at all.

My wood chips are the large pine shavings from TSC. No scents there either.
