This morning one of our hens started sneezing or coughing, being new I can't tell the difference between the two. She is eating fine and hasn't sneezed since. What do I need to watch out for to tell when its time to intervene? and at that point, what do I do?

What was she doing at the time? Had she been eating/drinking?
Sometimes they can get food/water in the nostrils or even inhale a little bit - they will sneeze or cough to clear it away.

If she is not making the noise right now, then she's probably o.k., but it's not a bad idea to listen and watch. Pay particular attention when she does it to see if it correlates to any activity.

If it continues, then gather her up, listen for wheezing, mucous from the nostrils, watery or bubbly eyes, etc.

Keep us posted.

She had just come out of the coop, so she had not been eating or drinking. She was acting fine, did the sneezes and then walked over to start eating breakfast. She seems normal now and I haven't heard any more. I will certainly pay close attention to her and be back with any more details. Thank you!

Dust being stirred up from everyone coming out? Chickens can sneeze from dust like we do. If she is normal now that's good.

Constant sneezing or sounding "wheezy" then you have a problem.
Please do let us know if you notice anything off.
