OK, so I went to let out the hens and realized one of our 2 yr old light brahmas was making what sounds like a high pitched sneeze. She'd shake her head a bit with each one and was doing it almost in a hiccup like pattern if that makes sense lol! We let her out and she seems ok...not making the sound nearly as much and is pecking/scratching and dust bathing. 2 seem to be getting very slightly messy bums. Could it be them being mostly indoors???? We are getting them into a new coop in the next few weeks..until then they are in a temp winter coop on our porch. Not the best ventilation compared to the last one since it gets stuffy...its been in the 70s here and the porch heats up quickly even with all the windows down. They'd normally be freeranging all day this time of year but they just built a new duplex next door and new neighbors just moved in. They have 2 smallish dogs...one is a type of terrier that I know is NOT the best breed to be around chickens...that they let run freely in their yard (they have no fencing other than what we have up.). Our fence line isn't the best on that side of the yard (taken several hits from downed branches etc.. from the big windstorm a few months back), so we worry the dogs could get in..or vice versa. The dogs are already barking just at us or the kids on their bikes and want to give chase. We are putting in a large chicken run...and will let them freerange ONLY with our supervision. I sooo hope our ladies are not getting sick because of this situation
((((
