Sneezing Chickens

Hi all,
Doing my chores this morning and heard a sneeze, I feed my laying chickens Dumor Pellet 16% layer with a mix of 20% starter. I do have medicated feed.. Can the medicated feed solve this problem or do I need to use something else? Apple Cider Vinegar?

If you only heard it once, then it may be harmless. She may have had gotten something up her nostrils. But if it keeps continuing, I would give her some natural antibiotics such as colloidal silver. Respiratory infections are pretty contagious in poultry, so if she keeps it up, you may want to separate her.

You could squeeze a few droppers full of silver, or, somehow, if you can open their mouth and apply it. Also, if your chickens bedding is really dusty, that might cause the sneezing. What type of bedding do you use for them? I use kiln dried, dust-free pine shavings. They work great. No smell, and no dust!

I use my own wood chip sourced in the farm quarter to half inch size chips and we had rain for the past 3 days straight then this morning I turned the bedding so the wet chips are in the soil and compost.

If that may have stirred up dust, that could be the cause. I have never had problems with sneezing chickens, so I don't know that much about what to do, but you could try the antibiotics. I hope that someone more experienced will help you. Best wishes for you and your flock!
