Two of my silkie hens hatched out a few chicks 2 weeks ago. A few days ago, I noticed one of the hens sneezing every once in a while but had no other signs of illness. Then today one of the chicks started sneezing and was vomiting clear liquid that looked like water. I didn't actually see it doing this, as I was gone, but I was informed of this over the phone. When I came home, I went to see what was the matter with it and it was dead. I quickly buried it and separated the healthy hen and the rest of the chicks. Do I need to give my sneezing hen any sort of medicine? I have Sulmet, Tylan 200, Enrofloxacin, and Duramycin. Would any of these help? Also, can I give any of these to the other hen and chicks as a preventative?

Wow, sorry about losing your chick. I would not give antibiotics to birds that are healthy. The enrofloxacin (baytril) is your best bet for respiratory issues. I have not given this one and sorry can't tell you the dose. The next best is Tylan 50 injectable. Separating them is a good step. I am sure someone will be able to help with the baytril dose. Good luck.

Thank you! Does anyone know the dosage?
