SNEEZING HEN!!

Mine are let out in the morning and stay out all day except for laying eggs.
I spend a lot of time out there with them. I'll bet I go out about 6 -7 times a day.

And I clean their pen every morning so I know it's not from that.

I have a 4 ft. fenced in side and back yard where their pen is so they stay in the yard most of the time.
I have a couple fence jumpers but they come back after an hour or 2 of freedom.

I heard one sneeze early last week.
Then a couple days later 1 or 2 more. By then I knew something was up and thought it was just a cold from the weather.

I came here and found out they don't get colds.

I haven't noticed any watery eyes or nose.
Just the sneezing. The rooster has the added hoarseness.
He was the last to get it about 2 days ago and I haven't heard him sneeze at all this morning so hopefully they're on the mend and this is the end of it.

well i have heard on here that chickens can get colds, everyone has a different answer though. my sneezing hen has been back in with the others now for a week and its still just her sneezing so i dont think its anything contagious. it may just be part of her pesonality. every chicken is different so i dont know. i hope yours get well!!

I wondered when I saw you were from NC if you had bought hens from the same flea mkt. or if there were a bunch of sick hens being passed around in the area.

Glad to hear that you only have 1 sneezing and I hope it's just an allergy or something.

I do hope chickens get colds because looking up the possibilities is a little scary!
