I have one of my 16 chickens that started sneezing, she has a clear runny nose. No other symptoms. My chickens were just recently moved outdoors this week into their coop. Temps are 50s during the day and low 40s at night. We use a 100 watt bulb in the coop at night. Our climate here is damp, as we live in a rainforest. Would you say this is more something environmental? We do not have a vet regularly on our island or I would take her to the vet. I also highly doubt he'd specialiZe in avian illness. I appreciate any tips! I did start acv in the flocks water.

What type of bedding/litter do you use? Is the the coop well ventilated?

Last year when we moved our 8 week old chicks out, I noticed a couple sneezing here and there, but they were all eating, drinking and acting normal..in other words no other signs of illness. After a week or so, it stopped.

Then over the winter, I heard the sneezing again, only this time it was quite a bit of sneezing and half of them were doing it. I wound up treating the whole flock with an antibiotic and tossed the eggs for he month.

If it is just one doing it now, I would separate her..Maybe bring her in the house/brooder to keep an eye on her for a few days. If they all start doing it, then I would be more concerned or if she continues to sneeze, or if discharge turns yellow/green. You may need to treat her in that case. I am sorry I do not have a lot of experience with this sort of thing yet but I felt bad that no one had responded..this is just what I would do.

Thank you for your input! I use a pine bedding and PDZ granules. The coop is open during the day into the run, but at night it's closed. I've been reading up on ventilation without drafts and that could be part of my problem, I need better ventilation. She wasn't sneezing this morning, and no one else has been. Today was a dry sunny day, so maybe I have a chicken with allergies?? Is there such a thing?? Lol
