I also live in the PNW
Red tail hawks are a nearly year round “problem” for us
I can’t say I’ve ever seen one once the snow starts to fall (we live at about 1400’ and certainly get snow)
But. I can say I saw a hawk hunting today.
All the duck heads tilt so they can see the sky, and then they run under their covered “porch” or into the coop.
The turkeys suddenly become quiet, and go into their coops.
Anytime I hear a bunch of crows (the crows seem to often chase the hawks here), or, everyone gets quiet- I go out to check them, or check the cameras if I’m not home!
I have neighbor friends to call if there is a problem and I’m away-
