I just picked up this cutie for a brooder mate for my Elizabeth. I have some concerns.. she’s never been handled, her living conditions were a wire rabbit cage with 5 other ducklings, with a dry duckling waterer, definitely nothing to rinse her nose and I didn’t see a food dish anywhere. The conditions were not.. ideal. Anyways, she has a runny nose, sneezes and shoots snot everywhere. When she opens her mouth it almost sounds like she’s hissing but out of her nose. Her poop is yellow liquid. I know she’s not healthy. I have VetRX and Nutri Drench. Not sure how to use them correctly and google is frustrating me. Suggestions on what I should do? Is she contagious?

I don't know a thing about Ducks but I would not put her anywhere near where my other duck lives.

Sorry to hear about your duckling.

Ducklings should have access to nose deep water throughout the day/night, are you providing that? Yellow snotty poop is a little concerning, do you happen to have a picture, is she exhibiting any other concerning symptoms besides the ones you listed?

Put a few drops in her waterer, I don't think I'd administer them orally since she is having a troubled time breathing, the risk of aspiration would be increased.

Aspergillosis is a common respiratory disease with waterfowl, most often caused by poor management practices, it's not contagious from bird to bird, the disease spreads via fungal spores in the environment.

Yes, I provide that for all my ducks but the conditions I just pick her up from.. definitely did not. I soon as I brought her home I put her in the bathtub and she drank a ton of water. She had one yellow poop and then poop like this (I’ll post it). She finally cleaned her nose and She hasn’t sneezed since I got her out of the tub. She definitely active, and vocal. I’m concerned about housing her with my other duckling tonight.

If you give me your general area, I may be able to find one that sees birds for you. That's great, sounds like her previous owner weren't taking very good care of her, maybe she needs to get those nares cleaned out.
