busted...
no, I live in the city, so only am allowed 5 hens. Although if my pullet princesses don't get their heinies out of molt soon and start laying again, they might find that they are replaceable.... gasp!
I offered up my DH's skills to a friend (fellow mom at our kids' grade school) who didn't have a winter appropriate coop for her hens. She put off construction all summer and then suddenly realized that the snow was coming (well, it's HERE NOW!) and she needed help. I'm sure my DH is cursing that he ever let me in on the secret that he could build something (before our coop, he hung pictures....).
It's very close to being done - just needs the roof and shingles. We'll haul it to her house on a trailer (that should be entertaining) and will need an ARMY to carry it into place. I can't believe how heavy it is.
Okay, so I'm not divulging any more until it's done, but I'm planning on posting it in the winter coop contest.
I told him there's a special place in heaven for folks like him who help others doing things that they don't really like to do.... he growls (but then grins) - he's a keeper I think.
