Good Morning All from "It's Snowing in Upstate NY"
Our snow season is upon us and I was wondering - does anyone know what ice melt is safe for dogs and chickens?

I use nothing but wood chips...

Some ice melts will not irritate pets paws or skin, are non toxic, but I would never take the chance on my birds.

Don't think any kind of ice melt would be safe for chickens.
I keep main traffic areas cleared of snow so ice packs don't form,
and use sand in a big sprinkle jar if things get slickery.

I try to clear as much snow as possible but I'm sure you know you can never get it all. Straw can come in handy for spots where you just can't get it all but you may have to consider how to clean it up depending on where you put it. I also like the idea of using sand.
