SNOW/Chickens?

Oooooh, snow! The weather folks are saying we might even get a bit of snow here in Northern Sacramento. i wouldn't worry about it. i've seen pictures on here of chickens walking around in snow. As long as they can get out of it and have some dry places, they should be fine.

Brrrr fingers crossed for snow!! I would MUCH rather have snow than rain and I am sure the chickens feel the same. Boooo rain lol! They should be fine as long as they have the options to get out of the snow ect.

Yep... Some snow here in Upper Lake, Ca. . There is enough snow to make every thing white for a while this morning & to make a NO SCHOOL Day for the kids.

Yes, all the animals have access to shelter out of the snow. The chickens usually sleep up in a tree outside at night even if it is raining. I tricked the chickens yesterday into coming in their house when it was raining, then I hurried & locked them in so if it snowed they wouldn't be up in the tree to freeze. I bet they are thanking me for locking them in. lol Now when I let them out, I hope I can trick them back in again tonight. ~Thanks a lot for the quick responses, Julie

They'll be just fine as long as they have a snow-free shelter. We got hit with another foot of snow last week; I think my birds are finally deciding it isn't acidic. A couple walked up the snowy path to the house yesterday. And pooped on the porch.

Yeah, same here. The chickens have finally decided that they can walk in snow, and poop on the deck, in front of the door.

I gave my girls a snowball. After a few quizzical looks, they ate it all.

They weren't too fazed with the snow. I think it should be fine as long as they can get some relief from it should they need it.

We have 18 inches here and no real shelter from the snow other than the coop and a shed clear on the other side of the yard. I have to clean the coop out today so i wander what the girls will do with all this snow? should be interesting!

My birds have not left the coop for most of the winter...they just sit at the door and window and stare at the white stuff. They have tons of room in the coop though, so I guess they don't feel compeled to go out if there is nothing for them to eat...no grass or bugs to get to, so why bother...lol

I had to shovel my run just to get them out so I could clean out the coop a couple weeks ago...silly birds afraid of some white stuff.
