I have a white peahen (I know it now because she just started laying eggs) and I think she should have a mate. I believe she is a young bird and this is her first time hatching (she came to my rescue about three months ago). she's with two chickens and one rooster now, but I think she'd be "happier" with one of her own kind. Is she too young for a mate? How old should the male be? Someone has three yearling India Blues and I could buy and put one with her. I would move her to larger quarters and put them together. At what age do they become fertile- Snow and the male? Do I want to leave the eggs with them or will they go bad if they're not fertile? I have read different things about ages for fertility. I also dont' know if she'll set because right now, I am picking up the eggs since I know they're not fertile since she doesn't have a male with her.
