I have a white peahen (I know it now because she just started laying eggs) and I think she should have a mate. I believe she is a young bird and this is her first time hatching (she came to my rescue about three months ago). she's with two chickens and one rooster now, but I think she'd be "happier" with one of her own kind. Is she too young for a mate? How old should the male be? Someone has three yearling India Blues and I could buy and put one with her. I would move her to larger quarters and put them together. At what age do they become fertile- Snow and the male? Do I want to leave the eggs with them or will they go bad if they're not fertile? I have read different things about ages for fertility. I also dont' know if she'll set because right now, I am picking up the eggs since I know they're not fertile since she doesn't have a male with her.

Is she too young for a mate? ... if she lay ... of course NO !
Three years India Blues ... very good !

If you have the choice choose a peacock like that ! ... with some white feathers at the top of the wings.
They are split white peacock It will produce white peachicks ... who one more value!

Thanks for the email. I think she's "old" enough for a mate, but wondering if her eggs would be fertile from a young male. This morning she was making wonderful peacock noises. I am looking at a India Blue male born in February, so they can grow up together. Or she can just stay with my three chickens and not reproduce. I will see the males today. I can buy a pied male for $125 or an india blue for $80. Since this is just fun, the less money spent, the better, I think. I just want Snow to be happy.
