Snow plow & Scovies don't mix well.

That is just terrible.

So sorry!

I would get a hold of the driver or who ever he works for I agree with everything Nettie said about that.

Still feeling rattled about yesterday & have been teary eyed on & off most of the day.

DH said he did check on the Scovies once and didn't see them near the road & to give him credit, I have seen them high tail it over to the road faster than you'd think they see a cat or crow across the way. If I know or see them in the front yard I am constantly keeping my eye on them KNOWING, just like a kiddo, they can move fast if they want to & are headed into trouble before you know it.

I hope to talk to my neighbors across the street and see if they saw anything. There is a small hill you come up about 100' fm where they were hit and I'm wondering if the snow plow driver may not have seen them in time since they do plow thru here pretty fast and it's a fairly narrow country road. (two large SUV's have to pretty much ride the edge to get past eachother) The Scovies haven't ventured much past our front porch today.... they are being very good and at least for today, are staying FAR, FAAAARRRRR, away fm the road.

I am soooooooo very sorry for your losses.

They truly were BEAUTIFUL birds. I can feel your pain.

We had the same guy hit two of our guinea hens within a week of each other. When one of our neighbors confronted him about the second one, he said, "Well I didn't know they were pets!" So you'd hit them on purpose because they are a wild bird and no one would care???

I HOPE the snow plow driver just didn't see them in time.... in which case, I'm sure he/she feels AWFUL. But unfortunately, in our crazy world, you just never know.

Again, I am soooooo sorry. It does help me when I lose a precious one like that to visualize them in the BEAUTIFUL WORLD to come with all the others who have gone before. Hope the loving thoughts help you too.

, but you can't blame the driver. They were in the road. He might not have seen them, or swerving to miss them might have been more dangerous. Heck, for all we know the other ducks may have been in the road too. He may have swerved to miss them and accidentally hit the other two.

I will never understand why anyone would want to hit ANY living creature with their vehicle.

Thank you all for your kindness.

So sorry about the loss of your very pretty girls ! I sometimes think people take aim and then hit the gas and on their way !!! That's a shame.
I have an idiot neighbor...take your choice....that has about 20 Scovies. They are free ranging all over the street. Makes me a nervous wreck ! I'll go out to get the mail and there's a herd of them walking down the side of the road towards the REALLY BAD curve. I can't believe they have survived. This is NOT a quiet country road ! Very busy. Really pretty chocolate ones.
Once again, sorry for your loss.
