After sleeping for quite some time, Cove finally woke up. He got up, streched, and shook his fur. Then he looked over and saw Lilly still fast asleep. He thought about his sister Kasha. "Hmm," he wondered, "I wonder if she knows about me becoming a beta yet." Cove went out of the den and took one last glance at Lilly sleeping before running off to find Kasha.

He ran for a few minutes before he found Kasha's trail. He sniffed it and could tell that it was her. He could also tell that she was running really fast. He wondered why, but figured that she had spotted some prey. He followed Kasha's trail until he lost it at a big pine tree. "Hmm." He wondered circling the tree sniffing all around it. "Her trail stops here, and doesn't go any further." Then he decided to look up.

Way up in the tree on a nice thick branch was Kasha- sleeping. "Hey!" Cove called, "What are you doing up there, Kasha?" Kasha blinked her eyes open. She was only half awake for she was just woken up by Cove. "Three-legged wolves can't climb trees!" She shouted not knowing that it was Cove down there. Cove didn't realize that Kasha didn't know that it was him and that she was talking about Visusi, so he was a little offended. "Well," he thought to himself, "I'm a beta now, so I must have the other wolves show me the respect as one. That's even including my sister Kasha."

"Get down here and show the proper respect to a beta!" Cove called respectfully but sternly to his sister Kasha. "Beta?" Kasha questioned in disbelief. "I'm pretty familiar with the betas and last time I checked, they were both females whose names are Aurora and Lilly. And you sure don't sound like either one of them!"

Cove just stood there looking up into the tree at Kasha. He knew that there was no way for him to climb that tree, though he could always try. But then, what if he got stuck up there? That would be embarrassing! He sniffed around on the ground and spotted something. A rabbit. He quietly circled around it and hid behind the bushes that it was next to. He knew that those bushes would be it's hideout, so he got down low and waited.

"Well I guess that you're really not a beta whoever you are!" Kasha yelled after she streched out on her branch. "Because you would of done something by now!" Kasha's loud mouth was just enough to spook the rabbit. It quickly leaped into it's bushes not knowing that Cove was there. Without warning, Cove snatched up the rabbit on his first try. Then he walked out and over to the base of the pine tree that Kasha was in. He layed down and started skinning his catch.

The smell of that rabbit's meat caught Kasha's attention. "Hey- What are you doing?" She quickly questioned looking down from her branch. "Alphas eat first!" She shouted and started to come down still not knowing that it was her brother Cove. Soon she was at the bottom. "Drop it!" She damanded. Cove looked up from his skinning. His plan had worked!

"Oh," said Kasha recognizing her brother, "it's you. Sorry. I wouldn't of ever come down if I knew that it was you. I know how you sometimes eat your own catches by yourself when you're out by yourself without turning them over to the Alphas. Don't worry, I've told nobody. Ah- for ah- me keeping it quiet though, ah- well I was supposed to bring some prey back and ah- I haven't got any. So I was wondering if I could bring your rabbit back and pretend that I caught it in payment for never telling on you. Please?" Kasha smiled real big and waited for Cove's reply.

"And you lie?" Cove quickly stood up and looked at her. His rabbit was all skinned. "Well..." Kasha said slightly crouching down. "I was just skinning this rabbit. I wasn't even planning on eating it." Cove continued, but Kasha quickly spoke up. "You usually eat your catches when you're alone because you're often alone and would probably starve to death if you didn't! Maybe- maybe"

"I'm now the third beta now." Cove stood up proudly and looked down at Kasha who was crouching down close to the ground. "Beta?" She percked up. "You? A beta?" At that she fell over laughing loudly. Cove didn't want to because she was his sister, but he knew that he had to because he was a beta and she wasn't given him his proper respect. So he quickly nipped at her with a grawl.

"Ouch!" She yipped. "What was that for?" She stood up and started to grawl. "It's what is betas must do if a mid-ranker or omega is not showing respect to a beta." Cove responded sternly holding his stand. "No three-legged wolf can become a beta!" Kasha grawled raising the fur on her back. "Well if you have a problem with it, take it up with Meadow; she's the one who said that I can become one." Cove started to grawl back, but was a little sad about what Kasha said. He knew that he was missing a leg, but he wasn't born that way. He was a little ashamed, but didn't want Kasha to know.

"Why take it up with her? Your the one who's lying here! I should take it up with you!" Kasha shouted and launched herself at Cove. Cove quickly avoided her. She launched herself at him a couple of more times, and each time Cove avoided her. Then the last time Kasha launched herself at him he swung around and attacked her the same way he did with Lark earlier. He quickly had her on the ground with himself holding her down.

"Don't make me take it up with the Alphas Kasha!" Cove grawled deeply in his throat. "Ok ok." Kasha whinned. "You win." She said submissively. She knew that when Cove penned another wolf down that way that they wouldn't be able to get an advantage over him. "I surrender! You're a beta! I believe you!"

"Ok." Cove replied and slowly and cautiously got off from Kasha watching her. Kasha slowly got up and bowed to Cove nervously. Cove watched her. When he saw that Kasha was being submissive, he said politely but sternly, "Sorry. I didn't want to attack you, but you gave me no choice. Please don't let that happen again." "Ok, I won't." Kasha said nervously and slowly stood back up. "You won't tell on me, will you, Cove?" "I won't only if nobody asks me." He responded sternly but kindly.

"Ok." Kasha cheered quietly and looked around Cove making certain that she didn't injure him anywhere. She smiled when she saw no injuries. "Ah, what are you going to do with that rabbit?" She nervously asked him looking at it. "I'm going to bring it to the Alphas." he replied and picked up the rabbit. "Here, carry the rabbit's fur please." "Ok." Kasha replied and quickly picked it up. Soon, both Kasha and Cove was walking side by side to the Alpha's den.

( Lol don't be sorry!!! I loved that!!!!)

Lilly woke up some time later, looking around and seeing that Cove had left. She yawned and watched the pack, shuffling around, one small pup that she didn't know the name of was sniffing a turtle with interest. Lilly laughed as she watched the little tike try to eat it.

Visusi saw cove and kasha walking along," well, well, well. " she thought to herself, slowly walking over to kasha

Both Kasha and Cove looked at Visusi as she walked over to them. Then Kasha remembered how protective Cove is. "Cove is the third beta!" She quickly replied still holding onto that rabbit's fur. "He demands respect and he has me SUPER busy right now!" She glanced up at him. Cove was watching both of them.

Visusi raised an eyebrow at Cove, but saw lilly glaring at her in a respect him or else kinda way, so she lowered her head to him, then walked around kasha," so now you want to hunt?! Scare away all the prey for miles around when I'm around, trying to prove myself and help out, but not now!" She said with a angry and sarcastic tone of voice.

Cove started to grawl watching Visusi. Kasha got submissive to show Visusi that Cove was indeed a beta. "I'm supposed to be doing what he says," Kasha quietly said, " and that's what I'm doing. Sorry about earlier. I couldn't help myself. I, ah- needed a nap." She wagged her tail nervously hoping that Visusi would back off. She looked up at Cove to make certain that he was watching.
