Several weeks ago, I decided to add sprouting seeds to my repertoire of skills. I began reading and watching instructions until my computer's battery charge ran out more than once. My study was exhaustive. When it was time to give it a try, I assembled several kinds of seeds with which to experiment. The red beans did not even begin to sprout; the garbanzo beans began to stink just as they were looking edible. The lentil beans were sprouting just right. Imagine my excitement when, this morning, they were ready! I marched out to the run excitedly to give my six sweet chickens their regular pellets with a side of lentils for breakfast. I was shocked, however, when I checked on them around noon to find out that they had not touched the lentils. I cannot remember my chickens ever snubbing food. What the heck?

I've never sprouted lentils, I've only sprouted barley. When it was ready, I took the entire matted mess...

...out to the chickens. I tore off chunks and they practically snatched them out of my fingers.

Maybe if you break it up they'll be more interested?
