Some like to sleep in your shirt too, you can tuck it in and walk around with your chick in there (in your shirt) Just remember to shake out the little presents you might find. It's not that she has to have a mommy to be a good chicken, but the hen will teach them alot, how to scratch to find food, hunt for bugs, fly into trees to evade, dust bathe, etc...but you can teach them, or encourage them to do it if you want..my feed store chicks learned from watching other chickens, really they didn't know anything - I taught them to fly up to a tree limb, and one evening I was glad I had (saved a chicken life)
