Snugglesafe?

Hi, I have a flock of pekin bantams and we've been having dreadful weather, snow, rain, damp and chilly! My hens have been trying to snuggle together in the nest boxes to get warm rather than in the main coop. They've even resorted to sitting on top of each other, three in one box if they can do it. Had anyone tried using the snugglesafe heat pads with straw and bedding on top to generate a bit of warmth? I'm thinking of buying two but don't want to waste money if they don't work or the hens will avoid them. I'm thinking of trying it anyhow, be good to hear if others do something similar in bad weather or if there's a cheaper alternative?

If your coop is draft free, leave them be (in my opinion). They'll regulate their temps and be more acclimated to the outside weather. We've had some rough weather too (finally warming up, thank goodness) and my Silkies were just fine in their non-insulated coop, even with them getting wet

Ok thanks. Ives used a basic hot water bottle with sawdust on top for one night but your right about letting them get used to the cold so will only do it on really damp freezing nights.

yeah I use the snuggle safe head pad and cover it in shavings , it keeps them nice and warm but im sure a hot water bottle would be just as good
