Hi All! I'm new to the world of backyard chickens and I'm so glad to have found this forum. I've done a ton of research over the past couple weeks and I'm ready (I think/hope!) to pick up my chicks tomorrow. I look forward to sharing my Indianapolis, backyard chicken journey with you all!

Congratulations on getting your new chicks! What breeds are you getting?

I picked up 1 Golden Buff and 2 Silver Laced Wyandotte's yesterday. Unfortunately, one of the Wyandotte's died within an hour of being placed in the brooder. Poor little thing was half the size of the other birds, wouldn't open her eyes and could barely walk. I think she had a broken leg and was struggling with pasty butt. She died in my hands, but I'm glad she's not suffering anymore. I'm hoping to pick up another one today! Cross your fingers this one is in better health!
