We had a few that were frozen or almost when I couldn't get out there due to work. Stuck them in the fridge to slow thaw them and ate em up!
Not sure if any of you guys have chickens that do this but we have 6 nesting boxes that our 16 birds use randomly but once winter came they suddenly use only one or two. There are chickens lined up on the bar outside of the boxes and one almost inside the box while a chicken is laying. Once that chicken is done the next one hops in, gathers the eggs, and lays another. This repeats for all the birds that lay that day. I can only assume they do this to keep the eggs warm, being protective of them I guess. It is a very cool process to watch.
