I bought "Silver Lakenvelder" chicks from Tractor Supply about 2 months ago. (The silver and black chicks)

Well, fast forward to today and I'm seeing cockerels? that look nothing like the birds I was supposed to have been sold. They look like Silver Spangled Hamburgs. Am I wrong? And are they boys?

They are definitely not lakenvelders. I think you're right as far as the Hamburg. I am not too good with the gender, but to me the top one looks like a pullet. And don't feel bad, my first year of chicken raising I bought four Buckeyes from Tractor Supply- it took me a year to figure out they were actually welsummers!
For comparison, this is my hamburg pullet

So you know for sure, she's a lady? The bright red comb and wattles were throwing me through a loop.

Mine? Yes, for sure, she's a she- she's about 2 years old now. Pullets can get good size wattles and combs
Oh, that gives me hope! I was afraid I'd have to rehome both since my rooster count is at its limit, but hopefully at least one is a hen. Thank you for your help!

If yours are 8 weeks old then I think they're cockerels. Hers is over a year and already laying, which is why her wattles and comb is red. Yours are too young to be pullets with that much red.

Every once and awhile the hatcheries get it mixed up. I bought a silver laced wyndotte from TSC and it turned into an austrolorp. I had this happen at a private hatchery where we bought three black copper Marens and they were all austrolorps! But TSC is usually pretty good with keeping it organized. Accidents happen though. Very pretty birds. I kind of want some now lol.

They are very beautiful! I'm just sore about the fact that they're probably boys. I also bought "Americanas" from TSC....which are actually Easter Eggers. I'm not complaining, Nellie and Sis are smart and beautiful ladies, but I'd like to know what I'm purchasing beforehand.
