I'm so darn exited I've got to tell someone...my Miss Martha, black Australorp hen laid her first and second eggs today! I'd given up on her and Miss Dixie Chick, Americauna. I thought my husband was joking and he thought I bought another fake egg. Then I went to get my phone, wanted to document this momentous occasion, quickly took a picture since she wasn't sitting on it. Then turned around to thank her for the lovely egg AND there was another one on the yard ground! It was warm. Pretty sure it wasn't Miss Dixie I think she will lay blue or green eggs someday... maybe.

I want to tell everybody! Its crazy the way I feel. LoL I don't know why, but maybe because I put her in my brand new larger coop with my 11, nine week olds babies. She wasn't in with Miss Dixie and wasn't stressed... maybe or she enjoyed the much larger coop. I don't know and I don't care...just so happy I've got 2 eggs today!

I'd really love to share a few pictures, but can't seem to figure it out. If anyone reads this and knows how to add pictures from my phone gallery, please tell me! I'm so brand new, I'm not even sure I did this right. Thanks for reading and letting me share! Anyways.. I'm happy!

Congratulations! I just got my first egg three days ago from Chloe, one of my Easter Eggers. She has laid one a day since, and each one is a treat to see. Can't wait for my other 4 girls to start laying (another Easter Egger, 2 Black Australorps, and a Swedish Flower Hen).
Of course, being a former teacher, I am researching exactly how the egg is produced (fascinating reading, BTW), weighing, photographing, and recording each egg- I have set up an egg sheet for each of my girls.
Hope you get some eggs soon from Miss Dixie Chick!
