Finally my last bunch of chicks should be arriving. The small feed store about 10 minutes from me are getting in a bunch of RIR sexed pullets and Barred Rock straight run chicks. I will be aquiring a couple of each. I am hoping all I have learned will do me well and I will be able to pick just pullets for the barred Rocks. Wish me luck!

Enjoy your new chicks MissyMac, my 5 year old and I are heading out in a few hours to pick up our chicks as well! We're getting 6 Buff Orpingtons and 6 Speckled Sussex. We're very excited and I think I finally got the brooder temp under control. I'll just have to keep an eye on it as it is in a detached unheated workshop (in fact, we have to run a drop cord to it for the light). We're using a 125 during the day and a 250 at night. Got the feed and everything else finished setting up yesterday. I just need to put it all in the containers before we head out (or have the hubby do it).

Very sad The feed store didn't get the chicks I wanted in.

But I did get chicks, I ended up with 6 Golden Comet pullets, and 6 White leghorn pullets.

I hear golden comets are very nice chicks! Sorry you didn't get what you wanted, but I'm sure you'll enjoy these. I hope anyway.
